Tell us a bit about yourself

My name is Orahachi, but everyone calls me Hachi. I am a growth marketer, I also help startups with comms. My favorite spot to work is somewhere between product, growth, and comms.

How did you get to know about Zilla?

Honestly, I don’t know. I am very active in the Nigerian Tech community. I don’t have a clear memory of how I heard of Zilla, I just knew of it, but I think the first time I came across Zilla was at Lekeku. I had just moved to my place and I saw some furniture I liked, we wanted to pick it up and we were told that we could pay with Zilla. We didn’t end up buying that day for some reason.

What made you try out Zilla and what were your initial expectations?

A couple of things actually. I am a sucker for credit, I don’t like spending my own money (laughs). A few years ago, I read one of Robert Kiyosaki’s books, and one of the things he talked at length about was credit, and how rich people use credit to their advantage. It was really interesting, and it opened my eyes to a different kind of money game people were playing, where people were comfortable using credit as opposed to being enslaved to it. Since that very young age, I’ve always wanted to play the “credit game” to borrow money for things even though I could afford them.

The other thing is inflation. One thing people don’t factor in when making purchases, especially with the rate of inflation, is being able to lock in prices. For instance, if I lock in a price of something that costs 1,000 Naira, and I pay it over three months, effectively, I am paying less. 1,000 Naira today will not have the same value tomorrow. Understanding this always made me want to try out credit.

I ended up testing Zilla when I was ready to buy my furniture from Lekeku, and it worked really well.

How have you been using Zilla and what benefits have you noticed?

I have used Zilla once for furniture purchases, and I hope to use it a lot more often. Just being able to spread the payment. Another thing is the liquidity it brings.

How so?

My salary is a fixed amount every month, right? The Lekeku purchase was about 65,000 Naira, and I spread it over two months. Instead of having a 65,000 debt in a month, instead, what I have a 32,500 per month which is easier to manage compared to having a 65,000 debt. With Zilla, I have called more financial freedom

Do you have any tips for other users to help them get the most out of Zilla?

I’ll say do as many purchases as you can with credit, especially if they are significant purchases. Also, have a good grasp of what you can afford to pay back. The crazy thing is that it’s just in this part of the world we don’t have access to credit. In the western world, no one is buying stuff outright, and it helps them manage their money better.

If you could describe Zilla in three words, what would they be?

Omo this one is hard o. I’ll say Purple, helpful and important.

If you could only shop at one store for the rest of your life, which store would you choose and why?

I heard about this mall in Dubai that has everything you could ever want, I’ll shop there for the rest of my life if I could. Also, I really like cars. If I could buy a car with Zilla, I’d buy the car on credit and sell it (laughs).

If you could go on a shopping spree with any celebrity, who’ll you choose?

Myself?

Ah mad!

Oh wait, will they fund it?

Yeah

In that case, Elon Musk!

Why?

Because he has money. I don’t want someone that their money will quickly finish.

How has Zilla changed your approach to shopping?

Zilla has given me easy access to credit for the things I want to buy. I am now able to plan my purchases better.
